Do self help guru’s and authors sue each other over copyright and idea similarities?

So Tir asked:

How do self-help authors avoid lawsuits for infringement (and such) when the material is always basically the same stuff. Is it the re-hashing of stale material that makes it somehow legally ‘pure’ to sell? Go deep and win points.

I have heard that a sponsor for a self-published book is another way to get your book advertised and out to the world faster. Is this true?

what do you all think of that? I mean, there have been studies done and published that say that having good/high self esteem dosent help us or make us any better at all.
That really confuses me and sounds so confusing.

How do I apply self Help to myself?

November 28th, 2008

harkkam asked:

I’ve been reading books on self help and on how to control anxiety. I have some social anxiety and I’ve been trying to apply everything I am learning about how to go about changing my self image etc…

But how do I convert the words on the page to improvement. The problem is that by reading something that it just doesnt become gospel and become stone in your head. I still have those negative thoughts and no matter how hard I try to get rid of them they always resurface no matter how many books I may read.

So My question is, how do I take what I read in a self help book and make some permanent change in my behavior.

Is affirmations the only way?

How can I get a 3-6 month self-improvement, boot camp-style experience without joining the military?

austinmilbarge3900 asked:

Preferably a 3-6 month martial arts/mental strength training facility. Something so physically and mentally demanding that it would produce a SIGNIFICANT change in my personal habits and self-discipline. I’m in my mid-30s, lazy, and can’t put together enough consistent effort to achieve anything worthwhile. Time is running out. A potentially meaningful life is being wasted. I need radical change and I need it now.

I have seen this stuff out there and many people I know are very distrustful of it. I kinda don’t blame them but I was personally thinking about looking at some of that stuff to try and understand my sub conscious side of myself better.

I strive everyday to be excellent. I work out…get my lessons together, try to be the first one at work, and I am going to grad school in the fall…..even though I will be 31. This is not just a list of my accomplishments. I want to know if anyone out there feels the way I feel about self improvement. If you do, let me know.
